For Valentine’s Day, an American classic. This shake is really delicious and makes a great snack. The Snicker Shake has a secret ingredient. Instead of peanut butter, it uses peanut butter powder. This gives flavor and nutrition, as well as a good texture for the swallow.
Ingredients
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ½ cup chocolate cashew milk
- 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder (or plant protein powder)
- 2 tbs, peanut butter powder
- 1 tbs. caramel sauce (St. Darfours Organic brand has no refined white sugar)
- 1 tbs. good cocoa powder (without white sugar)
- ½ cup ice
For the Puree
Place all ingredients in the pitcher of a blender and blend for thirty seconds until smooth. The ice is there to help the puree, but the shake should be a little cooler than room temperature for the ease of the swallow. Dysphagia patients should not consume very cold beverages. Your healthcare provider will give you guidelines. If necessary, thicken with a pump of a thickener, to the required consistency of the NDD level. Simply Thick is a gel formula, gum-based thickener that comes in a bottle with a pump or in single packets. ThickenUp Clear, Thick & Easy Clear, SloDrinks are powdered gum-based thickeners. These also come in individual envelopes or in a large container with a scoop. The powdered form is slightly less expensive than the gel form. All are easily available in drugstores or discount stores.
